Lent 2021 – 5

March 21, 2021

Prayer Before Worship   Heavenly Father, send your Holy Spirit on us through the Means of Grace, so that we grow up in all things into maturity in faith and witness.  Through us may more sinners be brought into fellowship in Christ’s Body, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.   Amen

In Today’s Worship:  It is amazing that of all the honor, fame, and power Jesus deserved, instead He chose to die on the cross to pay for your sins. He chose the nails. What amazing love!  Today we are reminded that after Jesus died on the cross, the Bible records that a Roman Soldier thrust his spear up into Jesus’ chest, puncturing the heart.  Blood and water flowed from Jesus’ side indicating He had certainly died.  Blood and water carry rich meaning in scripture.  Jesus’ blood has paid for your sins, winning your forgiveness.  God the Holy Spirit is described as a spring of water gushing forth, which moves us to respond to Jesus’ forgiveness with lives of service.   Both Christ’s forgiveness and your resulting works of service motivated by His grace work together in your rich, joyful Christian life.
