Prayer Before Worship
Through this season of Lent, O Lord, remind us often when we are feeling proud, arrogant, beyond reproach, pleased with ourselves, self-sufficient in our ways, that for such as us You walked a road that took You to a cruel cross, and rose again to show us where we might look for rescue. Amen.
In Today’s Worship:
Love Is … Christ’s love for us is so great that it moves Him to die.
We are not only to reflect on Christ’s love, but reflect out His love to the world, as Jesus Himself commands: “Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another” John 13:34. This Lent season we look at some of the ways we can reflect Jesus’ love, using Paul’s description of what love is from 1 Corinthians 13. Today we will hear Jesus’ parable in which a judge gives a woman what she wants because her persistence irritates him! Jesus promises that, no matter how many times we “bother” God, He will never become irritated with our pleas! God’s love for you “is not irritable,” and so we love others as Christ has loved us.
