Who is this Jesus? Old Testament believers had the Law and the Prophets to point ahead to Christ, but this was only a shadow of what would come. The transfiguration provided an opportunity for the disciples to see this manifest: the fading glory of the old, the Law and the Prophets; replaced with the permanence of the new, Christ Jesus, come to save us. By the work of the Holy Spirit, the veil that obscures Christ’s face is removed, and by faith, we are called to the light.
