In Today’s Worship:   Martin Luther’s famous “Here I stand” speech rejected the authority of the Church of 500 years ago.  Luther claimed that popes and Councils have erred.  He put all his eggs in one basket, the basket of trusting in the words of the Bible alone.  This was dangerous then, and Luther ended up a wanted man for standing on his conviction.  Today, God’s Word, the Bible is still under attack.  The Bible is viewed as myth, altered through time, and impossible to understand so it means whatever you want it to mean to you.  People who believe the Bible are viewed as ignorant.  Today the standard for what is true in America is set by the newest TV star or a trendy politician.  Still, God’s Word is the ultimate authority.  In His Word, the Bible, God tells the truth about who you are, your value as a person, how you are to live, your relationships to others and to God, and where you are headed eternally.  People only have opinions, while God’s Word has unchangeable truth! So, trust in the Word of God with all your heart.
